Activities
The earlier young children are exposed to new activities, the less frightened they are and the more willing to try them out. It is important to introduce young children to physical experiences when they are still adventurous and uninhibited. Many disciplines, sporting and artistic have recognised this.
Toddlers are learning gymnastics,

playing musical instruments with quite difficult string and keyboard skills, requiring hand and eye co-ordination and the use of fine muscles,

swimming, with its buoyancy and breathing skills and large muscle co-ordination,

basketball, with large and fine muscle skills and co-ordination similar to those required for tennis.

Common to all young children, is their enthusiasm to learn. How a child develops often depends on the encouragement of this enthusiasm, with the provision of opportunities and a variety of activities. From opportunity comes success.
We are all natural learners, born with a remarkable mind/body system equipped with all the elements necessary for learning. Various stressors, however, can introduce blocks that inhibit the learning process.
At Toddler Tennis developmental routine classes, the young children are given a variety of activities and exercises for developing a broad base of skills. Training is never a chore. The concentration is on fun and enjoyment while learning coordination skills like:
catching, throwing,

skipping, jumping,

balancing,

stretching,
-Teddy teaches warm-up exercises and encourages the toddlers to initiate further ideas and become leaders. The children become confident and creative in a group.-

and hitting,
Creating big targets is essential for gaining direction.

Whether or not these tennis-playing toddlers become stars, they are gaining skills essential for their future development. Good hand and eye co-ordination, and the development of fine muscles in the hands are essential basic skills for learning to read and write.
At this young age the children have not yet developed bad habits, so can be taught the correct way. The more children enjoy the classes, the more they get from them.
Whether a child later makes a living out of tennis, or just plays the game socially, it is essential to love the game.
The teaching practice at Toddler Tennis is to make learning interesting, enjoyable and above all, fun!
Toddler Tennis lessons are held all year round, so these very young children may continue to consolidate their newly–learned skills. An indoor tennis court is an ideal venue, out of the sun, rain and wind. Lacks of wind is an added bonus for developing skills of hitting and correct timing.
